How to divide Lithops

How to divide Lithops

1. It can be propagated by division

Lithops can be propagated by division, which is one of its main uses. Using this method for reproduction is relatively simpler than another method - sowing, and the waiting time is also shorter. If the sowing method is used, it will take a long time from collection, sowing to growth. The chance of survival is higher when breeding in this way.

2. Steps of division

1. Materials for division: During the growth process of Lithops, some young leaves will grow in the middle part, and then the old leaves will slowly break and die. These young leaves grow very fast, and after about two or three months, they will be replaced by another round of new leaves. These newly grown tender leaves are the main materials used in the division method.

2. Preparation of substrate and flower pots: The substrate should be loose, fertile and breathable, which will also help the success rate. The flower pots should also be breathable and have holes at the bottom. You can prepare a few more pots.

3. Division steps: Cut the young leaves from the base and then plant them in different pots according to their size.

4. Subsequent maintenance: The temperature should be around 20 degrees. In addition, the location where it is placed should be ventilated and semi-shaded, without being exposed to too strong light. This makes it easier to survive.
