How to cultivate Daphne koreana

How to cultivate Daphne koreana

1. Soil

It is best to choose loose, breathable, fertile and acidic soil. You can mainly use leaf mold, mix some river sand into it, and add base fertilizer, such as cake fertilizer.

2. Watering

Because Daphne koreana has fleshy roots, the amount of water must not be too much. The watering should be thorough, and no water should accumulate. In addition, pay attention to waterproofing during the rainy season, and pour out the accumulated water in the basin in time if it rains.

3. Lighting

It prefers semi-shade. Therefore, you can place it in semi-shade or diffuse light. It can receive more light during the flowering period, and the same is true in winter.

4. Temperature

It likes warmth and can usually maintain around 20℃. In winter, please keep the temperature above 5℃.

5. Fertilization

During the growth stage, you can fertilize every ten days, especially in spring and autumn. Liquid fertilizer can be used, but the concentration should not be too high. In addition, use liquid fertilizer once before and after the flowering period.

6. Pest control

Its own fragrance will attract some insects, such as aphids, scale insects, etc., so prevention should be carried out early. Once discovered, spray pesticides in time to control it.

7. Regular pruning

It is relatively resistant to pruning, and you can usually cut off the opposite, messy, and parallel branches to help shape it. Dead and diseased branches should also be cut off to facilitate its growth. In addition, pruning should be done after flowering.
