Cultivation methods and precautions of water ferns

Best places to grow water ferns

Other ferns generally like shade and moisture but are not resistant to high temperatures or waterlogging. However, water ferns are suitable for growing in puddles, so the best planting places are paddy fields, ditches, ponds or common moist soil.

Soil requirements for water fern cultivation

Water ferns are suitable for growing in slightly acidic or neutral soils, such as paddy soil. In addition, the soil must be loose, breathable, not compacted, and often kept moist. Fertile land is best, and slightly poor land is also acceptable, but the growth state of water ferns will be greatly reduced and the ornamental value will also be reduced.

Precautions for water fern cultivation

Avoid direct sunlight

Water fern is a sun-loving fern but cannot tolerate strong light, especially in summer. It should not be exposed to strong light and should be properly shaded, but it should not be deprived of sunlight. After all, it is a green plant, and without sunlight, its growth rate and momentum will not be very good. As the saying goes, "Flower lovers love flowers and grow them in moderation."

Avoid drought

Water ferns like moisture more than other ferns, so they would rather be wet than dry. In other words, it is better to water them more than to keep them in a dry environment for a long time, so as not to affect their normal growth. Summer is generally a season of high temperature and drought. Don’t forget to water it two or three times a day. The amount of watering in winter can be appropriately less.
