Tomato growing environment and conditions

Tomatoes were previously distributed in South America and are now widely cultivated in both northern and southern China. The tomato fruit is rich in nutrients and has a special flavor. It can be eaten raw, cooked, processed into tomato sauce, or squeezed into juice.

Tomato Growing Conditions

Different varieties of tomatoes have different growth habits. Most tomatoes are short-day plants. During normal care, they only need 4-5 hours of light. The suitable temperature is 20-25℃, and the soil temperature is 20-22℃ for best growth. Deep soil rich in organic matter is suitable for their growth. They like moisture but are not tolerant to waterlogging.

Tomato growing temperature

Tomatoes like a warm environment and are suitable for growing in an environment of 15-35 degrees. The optimum temperature for growth is 20-23 degrees. The temperature should not exceed 33 degrees. If the temperature is below 10 degrees in winter, the growth will be slow and the growth will stop at 5 degrees.

Tomato growth process

The growth process of tomatoes mainly includes four stages: germination, seedling, flowering and fruiting, and fruiting. The sowing period should be considered according to the specific season, climatic conditions, cultivation methods, and seedling facilities. For open-field planting in spring, Beijing is suitable for sowing and seedling raising in February and March. For open-field planting in autumn, the south is suitable for sowing in July and August.

Tomato Planting Time and Method

Tomatoes are suitable for sowing in spring and autumn. It is best to choose deep, loose, fertile and well-drained soil for cultivation. The seeds should be disinfected before sowing and seedling raising. The sowing should not be too dense. The seedlings can be trained before transplanting, and the temperature of the seedbed should be gradually lowered. Do not excessively control the water during this period.
