How to keep garlic seeds? Where do the seeds come from?

Garlic Seed Introduction

Garlic has seeds, and its maturity time is usually around 90 to 100 days. The bud seeds in the garlic stalks that we usually eat are actually the seeds of "garlic", which are black. The garlic bulbs, or garlic cloves, are used for greenhouse cultivation.

How to save garlic seeds

Garlic seeds grow at the roots of garlic stalks in the soil. After about three months of growth, they finally mature. Then, pull the garlic stalks out of the soil and break off the rhizomes. This rhizome is the garlic seed. When planting garlic and collecting seeds, you can peel the garlic seeds and separate the garlic cloves inside. This method is a common way to preserve garlic seeds. In the subsequent seed preservation process, you must also pay attention to keeping them dry, but do not completely dry the garlic.

Garlic seed propagation

Garlic seeds can be planted and sown directly into the soil. Plant the well-preserved garlic cloves in the soil, and after about 90 days, the garlic will turn from seeds into a mature plant.

Garlic Seed Planting Method

1. Prepare the planting soil

During the preparation process, the first thing to do is to loosen the soil to about 20 centimeters, and determine the distance of planting according to the nearby water source. Loose soil makes it easier for garlic plants to survive.

2. Choose garlic seeds

Peel off the outer skin of the garlic, leaving the cloves inside and separate them, and sort them according to the size of the seeds. The best seeds are pure white, without scars and without sugar. Each seed weighs about 5g.

3. Sowing time

Garlic sowing time should be controlled. The sowing time is from the end of September to the beginning of October, and the temperature should be controlled at about 17 degrees. The garlic cloves should be dried in the sun for one to two days before sowing.
