How to propagate Bolu by division, cuttings, and leaf cuttings

Wave breeding method

Common ways of propagating Bolu include division, cutting and leaf cutting. It is best to do it in spring, specifically between April and May. At this time, the temperature has stabilized and the humidity is suitable. Bolu can take root faster and increase the survival rate.

Common breeding methods of Bolu

1. Propagation by wave division

The plant can be divided when repotting in spring. Use a sterilized knife to cut the young plants sprouting from the base of the mother plant. If they have roots, they can be directly potted. The rootless young plants can be inserted into the sand bed first and then transplanted after they take root.

2. Bolu cutting propagation

Cut off a section of healthy branches and leaves about 10 cm long from the mother plant of Bolu, apply disinfectant, and place it in a well-ventilated place. After the wound of the branch heals, it can be cut into cuttings. The cutting depth is about 4 cm. Water to wet the soil, and cover the branches and soil with a film to keep warm and moisturize.

3. Leaf cutting propagation

Cut the leaves at the top of the leaf disk from the sturdy Bolu mother plant. Such leaves have stronger germination ability. After cutting them, place them on a clean paper towel and move them to a ventilated and cool place to dry the wound. Only after the wound is dry can they be buried in the soil.

Prepare loose, breathable soil with strong drainage ability. It is recommended to mix leaf mold, river sand and vermiculite. After mixing, expose it to the sun for disinfection. Place the leaves on the surface of the substrate and spray water frequently to keep it moist. It will take about a month for roots to take root. Wait until the root system grows stably before transplanting.
