Are orchids suitable for deep or shallow pots?

Should orchids be potted in deep or shallow pots?

Orchids are suitable for planting in deep pots because their root systems are relatively developed and grow fast. Only deep pots can meet the growth needs of the root systems, but the specific size depends on the size of the plant.

There are many flower pots suitable for orchids, such as ceramic pots, purple clay pots, earthen pots, porcelain pots, etc. They are all good. Their common feature is that they have good air permeability.

How to repot orchids

1. Orchid repotting time

The best time to repot orchids is from February to April in spring, or from September to November in autumn. The temperature is stable during these two times, and the plants recover faster after repotting.

2. Watering after repotting orchids

After repotting the orchid, it needs to be watered once to help it take root. When watering, you can choose a watering can with fine holes and a long neck, and water until water flows out from the bottom of the pot.

3. Precautions for orchid repotting

(1) Remove the plant from the pot: Before repotting, control the amount of water, and then gently remove the orchid from the old pot, taking care not to damage the plant's roots.

(2) Root pruning: Check the orchid's roots, remove any unhealthy roots, disinfect them, and dry the wounds in the shade.

(3) Potting and maintenance: After planting orchids, they need to be watered once to establish rooting, and the seedlings need to be allowed to grow for about a week before being moved to a place with diffuse light for maintenance.
