What fertilizer is good for sugarcane topdressing?

What fertilizer is good for sugarcane topdressing?

Sugarcane topdressing time

Sugarcane grows vigorously from May to June, when it has a great demand for nutrients. It is a critical period for topdressing, and most of the topdressing should be applied during this period.

What fertilizer should be used for sugarcane topdressing?

When preparing the land for sugarcane, apply sufficient base fertilizer, preferably organic fertilizer fermented by farmers, which has more nutrients. In addition, mix in an appropriate amount of chemical compound fertilizer. In the seedling stage, to promote growth and tillering, you can apply ammonia fertilizer to increase the expansion and growth of the sugarcane root system. In the elongation period, you need to apply sufficient high-nitrogen compound fertilizer. Before and after the maturity period, you can apply high-potassium fertilizer to improve the quality of sugarcane.

Should urea or compound fertilizer be used for sugarcane topdressing?

Urea is used as topdressing for sugarcane. Applying urea in the middle and late stages of growth and watering in time after fertilization can reduce the concentration of urea, so that the roots can absorb it faster.

Sugarcane topdressing method

During the growth period of sugarcane, it is necessary to apply basal fertilizer heavily and top dressing in stages at the right time. If no basal fertilizer is applied and only top dressing is applied, the plants will easily fall over and the yield will be low. The basal fertilizer mainly includes organic fertilizer, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer.

Top dressing also needs to be based on the growth conditions of sugarcane. The principles of top dressing can be summarized as "three attacks and one supplement, light at two ends and heavy in the middle". "Three attacks" refers to seedling fertilizer, tiller fertilizer, and stem fertilizer. "One supplement" refers to the application of tail fertilizer in the later stage. "Light at two ends" means that less fertilizer should be applied in the seedling stage and the late elongation stage. "Heavy in the middle" means that more fertilizer should be applied in the early elongation stage.

Sugarcane topdressing dosage

The amount of molar macro-element water-soluble fertilizer is 5 to 10 kilograms per acre of land. Sugarcane should not be over-fertilized during the topdressing period, as long as it meets the growth needs of the plant.
