How many years does it take for kiwifruit to bear fruit?

Introduction to Kiwifruit Planting

Kiwi seedlings are usually planted in early spring, that is, from February to March. They can also be planted in November in autumn, and the effect is better, which is beneficial to the later growth. They are produced in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, Anhui, Zhejiang, Yunnan and other provinces, mainly in the Northeast. They are also distributed in North Korea and Japan.

Currently, the excellent cultivated varieties include Hayward, Hubei Kiwi No. 1 (Metal Kui), Hubei Kiwi No. 2 (Jinnong), Hubei Kiwi No. 3 (Jinyang), Qinmei, Miliang No. 1, Hongyang, etc.

Kiwi fruit planting results after several years

Usually, after planting, kiwifruit needs to be cared for for 3 years before it can bear fruit, and it will enter the peak fruit-bearing period after 5 years. The place where kiwifruit is planted must be kept with sufficient sunlight and is suitable for planting in sunny places. It cannot tolerate drought and needs timely watering in the dry season, and timely topdressing before and after the growing season.

It has strong cold resistance, but the Northeast region needs to take timely warming measures. When it grows to a certain height, it needs to build a support and prune in spring, cutting off three-fifths to four-fifths of the vines. Note that it cannot tolerate water and moisture, so it needs to be drained when there is a lot of rain.

Why doesn't kiwi fruit bear fruit?

The reason why kiwifruit does not bear fruit may be due to insufficient fertilizer. From germination to flowering and fruiting, appropriate topdressing should be done, mainly with elements such as Ca, Mg, B, Fe, and Mn. Failure to pollinate after flowering will also lead to no fruiting. It is best to pollinate the stigmas of female flowers that are open that day between 8:00 and 11:00 every day, and do it three times for better results.

Key points for kiwi fruit planting

During the maintenance of kiwifruit, the soil needs to be loosened and weeded to increase the ground temperature and soil permeability. It likes a warm and humid environment. If it is dry, it will stop growing. Attention should be paid to water supply to ensure that the soil is moist but not waterlogged.
