Reproduction methodLayeringThis method of propagation is not suitable in overly cold or overly hot seasons, and is best performed during the rainy season. Put two or three long branches (preferably vigorous branches with a two-year growth period) together, cut them slightly, and bury them three to four centimeters deep in the soil. After two months, it can be separated from the mother column and cultivated separately. Propagation by divisionIf you want to propagate by division, it is best to do it in spring when you need to change the pot. Choose plants that are three to five years old and have 15 to 20 branches. Be careful when dividing the mother plant into two or three clumps, and each clump needs at least two or three branches with well-developed root systems. After dividing, you can plant them in pots, place them in a cool place, and water them thoroughly. Spray water once or twice a day within fifteen days, wait for the plants to recover, apply a little fertilizer, and you can raise them normally after fifteen days. Cutting propagationThe effect of cuttings is very good when they are planted in pots when the buds sprout in spring. Take two flower pots, one large and one small, and place the smaller pot inside the larger one. Put soil between the two pots. Note that if there is a hole at the bottom of a small pot, the hole needs to be blocked to prevent water leakage, while a large pot needs to allow water to leak. Pour water into the small pot and let the water slowly seep into the large pot to keep the soil at a certain humidity. For branches and leaves, choose relatively sturdy branches, preferably new branches grown that year, which should be five to seven centimeters long. Cut it from the fork of the branch, remove the leaves below, and stick it in the soil. It will take about a month for the seeds to take root. PrecautionsChimonanthus prefers a dark and humid environment, does not like long-term sunlight exposure, and is not very cold-resistant. If you grow it in the north, you must use potted plants and move them to a warm indoor place in winter. Be careful when watering, as its root system is relatively fragile. Do not water it too much, nor let it be too dry. The flowering period of Chimonanthus chinensis is long, so more fertilizer is needed. After fertilizing, water and loosen the soil in time to prevent root rot. In addition, it is best to change the pot once every spring, which is beneficial to the growth of the plant. |
