The best time to plant lantern flowers

Lantern flowers are best planted in spring or autumn, when the climate and temperature are relatively more suitable and more conducive to seed germination. After planting in spring, they will bloom in the spring of the following year. Lantern flowers are highly adaptable and can survive using new or old branches. Generally, they need to be maintained for 1-2 years before they will bloom in spring.

How to plant lantern flowers

1. Take a well-grown branch from the mother plant, cut from the top down between the second and third pairs of leaves, the cut stem is about 5-6 cm, with two pairs of leaves, cut off two pairs of large leaves, and use a knife to cut two sections under the stem.

2. Take out the rooting agent and insert the treated stems into the soaking pot so that the cut surface is in full contact with the rooting agent to promote the growth of stem roots.

3. Take a small pot, add nutrient soil and some compost, insert the freshly processed stems into it, use a watering can to wet the cultivated soil, and keep it moist. Do not pour water directly, as stagnant water will cause rot and the plant will not be able to survive.

4. Move the pot mentioned above to a sunny place where it can receive light, but not direct sunlight. It can be placed in front of a window. Sunny weather is best.

Things to note when planting and managing lantern flowers

1. After a period of time, well-grown stems will take root and grow leaves or branches, which means that the roots are growing well and can be transplanted with a shovel.

2. When transplanting into a large pot, keep the original soil to avoid damaging the roots. The soil quality should be the same as that used for the previous cuttings.

3. After transplantation, it should still be placed in a place with scattered light to avoid direct sunlight and the temperature should be kept at around 23°C. If the weather is mild, you should spray more water to replenish moisture. In winter, the temperature is lower and you should spray water once a day. It should also be moved indoors to maintain the temperature.

4. Pay attention to management. If some branches grow too vigorously, you can pick the heart to facilitate the growth of more branches and leaves with beautiful shapes.
