How to propagate purple-edged jasper

Division method

First of all, if conditions permit, and there is a greenhouse with temperature control equipment, then division propagation can be carried out almost all year round.

We can prepare the potting soil for division by ourselves. Add a part of perlite and sand to the prepared leaf mold and peat soil, mix them evenly, add appropriate amount of base fertilizer to keep the soil fertile. At the same time, the soil must be loose and breathable, and not prone to water accumulation.

Then comes the maintenance during the growth period. It is best to apply top dressing once every half month during the growing season.

For watering, use water that has been allowed to settle in a pond for 1 to 2 days, and water sparingly in winter.

Temperature changes directly affect the color of leaves, and the suitable temperature is 15~20℃. Purple-edged Jade is afraid of heat. When the summer comes, you can place it under a shade and spray water to cool it down. In addition, overheating and overhumidity will cause the stems and leaves to turn black and rot, affecting the normal growth of Purple-edged Jade, so when watering, you must control the amount of water appropriately, not too much or too little. Place in a well-lit area in winter and avoid direct sunlight in summer.

Leaf cutting propagation

Purple-edged Jasper can also be propagated by leaf cuttings. During the period from May to June, you can choose to use leaf cuttings for propagation. In addition, the leaf cutting cannot be just a single leaf, it needs to have a petiole of about 1CM. Cut the leaves with a knife, dry them, and insert them obliquely into the prepared sand bed or substrate, inserting them to 1/3 of the leaf. You can use river sand as the substrate. Keep the substrate moist and the air humidity within a certain range, and it will take about 10-15 days for roots to take shape.
