Planting time and method of beans in the north: cultivation techniques and management points

Planting time of beans in the north

Northern beans prefer a warm growing environment. If the temperature is too low, the plants will easily grow poorly. Therefore, according to its growth habits, it is generally best to plant it in March-July. If planted in a greenhouse, it can be planted earlier.

Northern beans planting method

1. Site selection and land preparation

When planting northern beans, you can choose to plant them in sunny areas with loose, fertile soil and good drainage. Before planting, you must first deep plow the soil and then apply decomposed farmyard manure. This way the soil can become more loose and fertile, and the beans can grow more vigorously.

2. Planting method

Choose plump, disease-free northern bean seeds and sow them into the soil at a certain spacing. Generally, 3-5 seeds can be sown in each hole. After sowing, cover them with a thin layer of soil. Finally, water them appropriately to keep the soil slightly moist. If the temperature is low, you can also cover them with a layer of plastic film.

3. Maintenance and management

After sowing, northern beans will soon sprout. Then, thinning and removing weak seedlings are necessary. During the growth period, inter-cultivation and weeding are required and thin fertilizers should be applied frequently to promote vigorous growth of the plants and prevent the beans from growing too long. Appropriate pinching and pruning are also required to encourage more new branches to sprout.

Precautions for planting beans in the north

When beans in the north emerge, you can water them moderately, which is beneficial for the healthy growth of seedlings. When they bloom and form pods, they need a lot of water, especially in autumn when the temperature is high and the water evaporation is large. You can water them in the morning and evening to avoid water accumulation.
