When is Cassia Seed Harvested?

Cassia seed harvest time

Cassia seed usually blooms from July to September every year, and will produce seeds after flowering, and mature around October. However, the maturity time may vary slightly from place to place, and it depends on the actual situation.

Cassia seed origin

Cassia seed is widely planted in southern China, with production areas mainly in Anhui, Guangxi, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Guangdong and other places. It is a spring-sown plant, and the specific planting time depends on the climate. It can generally be planted in early April in Guangdong, while it needs to be planted in May in Anhui, and the harvest time is around October.

Cassia seed planting time and key points

1. Planting time

Cassia seed is usually planted in April and May, and can be harvested in late September to mid-October. The climate in different regions is different, so the time of sowing and planting varies. It is generally chosen in late April in the south and early May in the north.

2. Site selection and land preparation

Cassia seed is suitable for planting on flat land or sunny slopes with good drainage conditions. It cannot be planted continuously. It should be planted in deep, loose and breathable soil. Apply farmyard manure to the soil, add superphosphate, and deep plow the soil.

3. Processing seeds

Select healthy Cassia seeds with full grains and no diseases. Soak them in 50℃ warm water for 24 hours. Then take them out and let them air dry for a while. After absorbing water, the survival rate of planting can be greatly improved.

4. Sowing

Sow the prepared seeds, cover with 3 cm of soil, press it down slightly, water it enough, and cover it with a film to keep it warm and moist. The seedlings will emerge after about 10-15 days. Start thinning out when the seedlings are about 5 cm tall. When the seedlings are 15 cm tall, you can combine inter-row cultivation and weeding with plant spacing of 30 to 40 cm. Weed frequently after emergence and tillage in time.
