What to do if the African violet leaves rot

What to do if the African violet leaves rot

1. Pay attention to ventilation and lighting

African violets are not sun-loving plants, so they prefer a warm environment. If the leaves of this flower are rotten, we need to pay attention to shade it and keep it ventilated. If the light and ventilation are not good, the leaves will rot more thoroughly. In addition, the light should not be too strong or too weak. Pay attention to the degree. Sunlight in the morning and evening is very suitable, and at noon you can choose to put it in a place where the sun cannot reach directly.

2. Master scientific watering

Watering is something that every plant needs to pay attention to. If the plant is watered too much, the leaves and roots will rot very easily. However, if we do a good job of watering, the African violet will undoubtedly live well. If the leaves of the African violet are rotten, we'd better dry it, and generally we can wait until the soil in the pot turns white before watering it. In addition to this, we can also knock on the pot with our fingernails. If the pot does not make a crisp sound, we don't need to water it.

3. Change the soil acidity and alkalinity

Fertilizing itself is beneficial to the plants, but if you do it too much and make the soil overfertile, it will easily cause the leaves of the African violet to rot. At this time, we can prescribe the right medicine. If the fertilizer we apply is acidic, we can use some alkali, such as wood ash or other alkali to neutralize it. Of course, generally speaking, we rarely use acid to fertilize, so there is no need to use alkali to neutralize it.

4. Pay attention to maintaining the health of the root system

If the entire leaf of the African violet withers and even the roots are rotten, we should remove the necrotic roots, then disinfect the necrotic roots, then purify them with clean water, then cover them with a plastic bag, and wait patiently for seven days to see if it can grow new roots. Generally speaking, the plant will be able to regenerate roots in about four to eight weeks.
