Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Cymbidium orchids

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Cymbidium orchids

1. The temperature is too low

1. Reason: Long-term exposure to cold weather will also cause its leaves to turn yellow. If the temperature drops below 5℃, it may enter a dormant state, and the leaves will gradually turn yellow and dry.

2. Treatment method: It is best to overwinter Cymbidium orchids indoors or in a greenhouse to prevent them from being damaged by frost in the dry and cold weather in winter. It is best to keep it at a temperature above 10°C to avoid yellow leaves and other diseases.

2. Insufficient light

1. Reason: Although Cymbidium is not a plant that necessarily requires long-term light exposure, if it is placed in a place with weak light or short sunshine time for a long time, it will cause the leaves to turn yellow over time.

2. Treatment method: If yellow leaves appear, transplant the plant immediately or move it to a sunny place such as a balcony. It is best to ensure 5 to 6 hours of sunlight a day.

3. The air humidity is too low

1. Reason: The growth of Cymbidium requires higher environmental requirements, especially air humidity. If the air humidity is low for a long time, it will affect the growth of the leaves, and the leaves are prone to yellowing from top to bottom.

2. Treatment method: The general home breeding environment is relatively dry. You can spray some water on and around the plants to increase the air humidity. Especially in the winter in northern cities, heating and air conditioning will dry the air, so it needs to be humidified. If conditions permit, a small humidifier can be used.
