How to grow golden sedge in winter

How to grow golden sedge in winter

1. Control the temperature

It has relatively high requirements for the growth environment temperature in winter. Because it is not cold-resistant, the maintenance temperature needs to be kept above 6 degrees. If you are growing the plants in the open field, you need to take anti-cold measures. You can wrap the plants with old cotton wool to keep them warm. For indoor maintenance, it needs to be isolated from the ground, because there is floor heating in the north, and it is easy to get burned if it is placed directly on the ground.

2. Reduce watering

In winter, it will enter a dormant period, and its abilities in all aspects will be weakened, including the ability to absorb water. Therefore, when caring for the plant in winter, gradually reduce watering. Generally speaking, watering once a week is sufficient. When watering, do not pour water on the center of the plant. If water accumulates, the plant will easily rot.

3. Control fertilization

In winter, its ability to absorb nutrients will also weaken, so the use of fertilizer needs to be slowly reduced. If it is in good condition, there is no need to fertilize it. If it is not in good condition, fertilizing it once a month is enough.

4. Increase humidity

The climate in winter is relatively dry, which is a big challenge especially for plants grown indoors. The temperature for indoor maintenance in the north is relatively high, so the indoor humidity needs to be increased frequently. Spray the house with water every two days. You don't have to spray it directly on the plants, just spray it in the air.

5. Reduce light

It does not need too much light in winter. Too much light is not good for dormancy and will wake the plant from dormancy early. It is enough to ensure that it can receive about 3 hours of sunlight every day.
