When and how to repot Clivia

When and how to repot Clivia

Clivia repotting time

It is recommended to repot Clivia in spring and autumn, because the climate is mild and cool at this time, which can make it adapt to the pot faster after repotting and will not have a big impact on its growth. However, it must be avoided in midsummer and severe winter, otherwise it will affect the later growth of the plant.

Clivia repotting method and steps

1. Remove the plant from the pot : When removing the plant from the pot, first use a small shovel to draw a circle along the inner wall of the pot, or tap the outer wall of the pot gently, both of which can make the potting soil easier to separate. Then turn the pot upside down, hold the rhizome, and carefully take it out.

2. Prune the roots : remove the original flower soil and check whether the roots are rotten. Cut off the empty roots and rotten roots, then use carbendazim to disinfect and sterilize, and finally dry the roots.

3. Prepare potting soil : Prepare a larger flowerpot with good air permeability. The soil should also be loose and breathable. You can use soil made of leaf mold, pine needle soil, river sand and base fertilizer.

4. Plant in the pot : Place the Clivia in the middle of the prepared soil, fill the soil after the roots are stretched out, leaving no gaps, and finally press the soil around it firmly.

Clivia maintenance after repotting

As long as the Clivia is properly maintained and there is no problem with the plant itself, it will adapt to the pot quickly. Some have a suitable growth environment and can adapt to the pot in about a week or two after repotting. Some grow poorly and need to wait about 30 days to adapt to the pot. After the plant has completely adapted to the pot, it can be given normal care.
