How to grow pineapples

How to grow pineapples

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Pineapples have high requirements for temperature. Generally speaking, keeping the temperature between 24 and 27 degrees is most conducive to its growth and can also improve the quality of the fruit. If it is below fifteen degrees, its growth will be hindered. In addition, the minimum temperature cannot be lower than five degrees, otherwise it may suffer frost damage.

2. Light: Pineapple prefers diffuse light. Its original place of origin is in semi-shaded tropical rain forest. Good light will make its fruits sweeter and larger in size. So during its growth stage, it can't be too dark.

3. Watering: During the growth period, pineapples require a large amount of water, which must be replenished in time and not be too dry. But too much waterlogging can also cause some damage to it. Therefore, after heavy rain, it also needs to be drained.

4. Fertilization: The base fertilizer in the soil is very important, mainly nitrogen fertilizer, followed by potassium fertilizer. In addition, top dressing needs to be applied at appropriate times, mainly from April to September, when the amount of fertilizer required is relatively the highest.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be propagated by vegetative means. Small seedlings are often used for cultivation, referring to some small terminal buds, sucker buds and other parts. For example, after collecting the fruits, some small buds will remain on them, which can be used to cultivate into seedlings.

2. Pruning: Pineapples also need to be pruned in time, otherwise there will be many messy branches and leaves, which will consume excessive nutrients and affect the fruit yield. In addition to this part of messy branches and leaves, there is also pruning to shape it. If you want to enjoy it as a bonsai, that's fine, but you need to make appropriate repairs to its shape.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: There may be "wilt disease", which will cause the leaves to droop and the leaf color to become abnormal. It can be controlled with dimethoate solution. There may also be "black rot", which mainly harms the fruit and is extremely harmful. Therefore, after the fruit is ripe, timely prevention and control are required. In addition, during the fruit collection process, care must be taken to prevent rain.

2. Pests: There may be "scale insects", which are not only harmful themselves but also can spread diseases and need to be treated by spraying pesticides in time.

IV. Other issues

1. Flower language: Pineapple also has a flower language, and it is a very positive one, meaning “perfect”.

2. Can it be grown at home? As a bonsai, it can be placed at home for ornamental purposes.
