What to do if azalea withers

What to do if azalea withers

Unsuitable environment

When growing azaleas, if they are newly purchased flowers, if the flower buds wither at this time, it may be because they are not well adapted to the environment. Because the growing environment of the newly purchased azalea has changed, after adapting to the original growing environment, sudden changes, especially excessively dry air, will cause its flower buds to stop growing or even wither and fall off.

At this time, it is necessary to improve the growth environment of azalea, especially to increase the appropriateness of the air. Water spraying can be done appropriately.

Sprout

In winter, some homes are very warm, and the temperature sometimes reaches above 15℃, which is very suitable for the growth of azalea, allowing it to sprout new buds. These new buds usually sprout around the flower buds, which will compete with the flower buds for nutrients, causing the flower buds to lack nutrients, dry up, and fall off.

Improper fertilization

This situation usually occurs when improper fertilization is used when growing rhododendrons. If there is insufficient fertilization, there will not be enough nutrients when the flowers bloom, and the flower buds will easily wither and fall off. This phenomenon can also occur if too concentrated or uncomposted fertilizer is applied before flowering.

Therefore, when applying fertilizer, you must be reasonable and appropriate. You can apply phosphorus fertilizer once before flowering to promote flowering. Also, avoid fertilizing once the flower buds begin to swell.

Poor ventilation

Poor ventilation will cause the air to be blocked, and the environment will be too shaded, which will cause the azalea buds to wither. When growing rhododendrons at home, you must maintain good ventilation, which is conducive to flowering and less prone to diseases and pests.
