How long is the flowering period of osmanthus? How to care for osmanthus after it blooms?

1. How long is the flowering period?

It usually blooms in autumn between September and early October. The specific amount will depend on the region you are in, but the overall difference will not be too big. The flowering period of ordinary varieties is not very long, usually only more than 20 days. However, when they bloom, the flowers are beautiful, the fragrance is soft and rich, and the scent can be smelled from far away. It has many varieties, one of which is Osmanthus fragrans. As long as it is managed properly, it will bloom every two or three months, and the total flowering period can last more than six months. However, the floral scent will fade in the later stages.

2. How to care after flowering

1. Reduce light exposure: After flowering, reduce the length of light exposure, and be careful not to expose the plant to direct sunlight, otherwise the flowers will easily wither and the flowering time will be shortened. Place it in a cool and ventilated place to extend the flowering period.

2. Control the amount of water: Do not water too frequently during the flowering period, otherwise it will easily cause the flowers to fall off. Because sufficient water will cause the plant to grow too tall, which will speed up its maturity and cause the flowers to fall off. After flowering, you don't need to water the plant unless the soil is dry. Just keep it slightly moist, but never allow water to accumulate.

3. Stop fertilizing: Its flowering period is relatively short, so just apply an appropriate amount of fertilizer before flowering, and stop fertilizing in time after flowering. If nutrients are added, it will not only be detrimental to extending the flowering period, but will also easily cause flowers to fall. Therefore, you should wait until the flowering period is over before applying fertilizer. Fertilizing before winter will help the plant survive the winter.
