How to plant the red spider lily, the planting method and time of the red spider lily

1. Planting time

The red spider lily does not have high requirements for the planting time and can be planted all year round, but it is mostly chosen in spring and autumn. The climate at this time is more suitable and the plant grows faster, which is very helpful for its initial development. If planted in summer, the plant will be in a semi-dormant state and grow very slowly. It will not grow leaves until autumn and will not bloom until the second year.

2. Soil Preparation

When planting red spider lilies, you need to choose the right pot and soil. Flower pots are generally ceramic pots of moderate size and good air permeability. The soil should be loose and fertile sandy loam with good drainage and air permeability, and preferably rich in humus, which can also provide sufficient nutrients for the plants. In addition, the soil should be acidic. Alkaline soil is not conducive to growth. It can be improved by watering with ferrous sulfate solution or alum fertilizer water.

3. How to sow

Before preparing to sow, put some stones at the bottom of the flowerpot, and then fill it with the prepared potting soil. Don't fill it up, just fill it about 80%. Make a hole in the middle of the soil and bury the seeds in it. It should be noted that the head of the seed should be placed upwards. If it is placed upside down, it will not be easy to germinate and grow. Finally, cover it with a layer of soil, but the pointed end should protrude above the soil surface.

4. Subsequent maintenance

After planting the red spider lily, you can water it a little and place it in a semi-shaded place to avoid sunlight. The temperature should be kept between 18-26℃. Too high or too low is not conducive to its germination. Generally, after a week of maintenance, it can be exposed to light. If it is planted in spring, it needs appropriate shade in summer to avoid exposure to strong sunlight.
