When can peach blossom cuttings take root? Can peach blossoms be propagated by cuttings?

1. When to take root

It usually takes about a month for peach cuttings to take root. There are many factors that affect rooting. First of all, we must control the temperature and humidity. The temperature should be kept between 15-20℃ and the air humidity should be between 80-90%. In addition, it should be exposed to a certain amount of scattered light, but avoid direct sunlight. At the same time, loose and breathable soil is also more conducive to rooting.

2. Cutting method

1. Cuttings processing: Select a mother tree that is healthy and free of diseases and insect pests, and find a strong branch grown that year from it. The branch should face the sun and have full buds. Cut the branches as cuttings, and the lower incision should be 0.5 cm below the node, and the incision should be smooth. Remove the lower and middle leaves, leaving only the top 2-3 leaves.

2. Prepare the substrate: In order to make the cuttings grow better, they need to be cultivated with a special substrate. Vermiculite, perlite or river sand are generally used. The particles of this type of matrix are larger, with good drainage and air permeability, which is very helpful for root growth. If you use soil that is too sticky for cuttings, it will easily cause it to fail to take root.

3. Carry out cuttings: After preparing the substrate and cuttings, you can carry out cuttings. Start by poking a hole in the substrate with a chopstick and inserting the cutting into it. The depth is generally one third or one half of the length. If it is a hard branch cutting, you can insert it a little deeper, usually two-thirds of the length, and compact the surrounding soil after insertion.

4. Subsequent maintenance: In order to ensure that the cuttings can take root smoothly, it is necessary to maintain a certain temperature and moderation after cuttings. At the same time, it is necessary to place it in a semi-shaded place to receive a certain amount of light. If the climate is cold, you need to cover the cuttings with plastic film to keep them warm, but you need to make a few holes in the film so that it can breathe better.
