How to grow Clivia well

How to grow Clivia well

1. Avoid wind in spring

At the beginning of spring, it ends its hibernation period and its roots gradually begin to wake up. At this time, there is a serious lack of nutrients. If it is exposed to wind and sun, the leaves will begin to dehydrate, become dull, soft and thin. In severe cases, the leaves will begin to turn yellow and fall off. Therefore, if you want to grow it well, you need to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist at this time, do not water it too much, and then wait until it blooms, do not spray it with water. After that, apply liquid fertilizer to it once a week or half a month, but the fertilizer should not be too concentrated, so that it can grow well.

2. Avoid sun exposure in summer

It does not require much light and prefers a semi-shady environment, so in the summer, it must not be exposed to strong light, otherwise the root system will become disordered, affecting the normal absorption of nutrients, and causing the plant to experience leaf sprouting and other phenomena. In addition, if it is exposed to strong light and is not replenished with water in time, its leaves will wither and turn yellow. Therefore, to keep it well in summer, first of all, you need to shade it, and secondly, lower the temperature appropriately, keeping it below 25 degrees, and the humidity is best between 60 and 70%. Finally, you need to reduce the amount of fertilization and increase the amount of watering.

3. Avoid rain and water spray in autumn

After entering autumn, the temperature gradually begins to drop and there is more rain. At this time, the adult plants are in the peak period of flowering. If they are exposed to rain or sprayed with water, it will cause root rot, heart rot and other phenomena. Therefore, you must control the amount of watering at this time, and when watering, do not let the water flow into the center of the leaves, and do not allow rainwater to flow into it.

4. Avoid low temperature and dryness in winter

After entering winter, if the temperature is lower than 5 degrees but the humidity is around 70%, frostbite will not occur. If the humidity is lower than 20%, frostbite will occur due to dryness. Therefore, we need to place it in a well-lit place indoors before the arrival of frost, and keep it warm. We should turn the pot every half a month to allow the leaves to grow neatly.
