1. Pot soil selection

Cymbidium is an epiphytic flower that grows on tree trunks and rocks in the forest by relying on its root system when in the wild. Therefore, ceramic pots with porous walls are often used to cultivate Cymbidium orchids, and the soil can be garden soil, sandy soil, humus soil, and a small amount of fine sand can be added to enhance its drainage.

2. Temperature and light management

Cymbidium does not have high temperature requirements, but if you want it to grow well, the temperature should be controlled between 15-25 degrees. However, Cymbidium orchids prefer sufficient light, and at least 5 hours of light per day are required.

3. Watering tips

Cymbidium flowers prefer higher air humidity. In spring, summer and autumn, while giving the roots sufficient water, the leaves should be sprayed with water frequently. However, after flowering in early spring, the Cymbidium orchid must be watered less during its short dormant period, and only be watered more when the new buds grow larger new roots.

4. Reasonable fertilization

Reasonable fertilization should be carried out according to the nutritional needs of the plants in different growth cycles and seasonal changes. Generally, fertilizer should be applied once every 5-7 days in spring and summer, once every 10-15 days in autumn, and fertilization can be stopped in winter. In terms of fertilizer selection, during the spring and summer growing season, apply a 1000-fold diluted solution of standard fertilizer with equal amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium; in autumn, more potassium fertilizer should be used, and 800-1000 times potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed on the leaves.

5. Reasonable pruning

There are usually more than four leaf buds next to the pseudobulb of Cymbidium flower. In order to ensure nutrient concentration, the newly formed buds and their growth points must be completely removed. In addition, after flowering, when you find that most of the flowers have fallen, you should also cut off the flower branches in time to prevent further consumption of nutrients.

6. Reproduction method

The main method of propagation is division, which can be carried out during the dormant period after the plant's flowering period. First, dry the Cymbidium flowers properly to prevent them from turning white and softening. Then use the orchid seedlings to cut and divide the plants, and use sulfur powder or charcoal powder to prevent the Cymbidium from infection. After dividing, leave it for 2 days to dry before potting it .

In general, Cymbidium orchids have large flowers, dignified shapes, and magnificent appearance. They are one of the most popular orchid varieties in the world. They are also very suitable for growing in indoor flower stands, balconies, windowsills, etc., and are very easy to maintain.
