What to do if Monstera leaves turn yellow

What to do if Monstera leaves turn yellow

1. Change the soil

Reason: Monstera has relatively developed fleshy roots, so it has very high requirements for the air permeability of the soil. Heavy soil will affect its breathing, causing its leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Replace it with suitable soil. You can mix 2 parts of cooked loess, 1 part of honeycomb coal ash, and 1 part of chicken manure into mixed soil. This kind of soil has good air permeability and can make it grow better.

2. Scientific watering

Reason: Do not water Monstera too much or too little. Both extreme watering methods will cause the leaves to turn yellow, and too much water will cause root rot.

Solution: Water regularly and in moderation. It is best to water when the soil surface is dry, so as to increase the humidity in the air.

3. Appropriate amount of light

Reason: Too strong or too weak light will cause the leaves to turn yellow. If you keep it in a cool environment for a long time, the leaves will turn yellow because it affects photosynthesis. Of course, it cannot be placed in a place with too strong light, as it can easily burn the leaves and cause them to turn yellow.

Solution: When the sunlight is strong, you can provide appropriate shade or allow for diffuse light.

4. Keep warm

Reason: The most suitable growth temperature for Monstera is 20-25℃. The minimum temperature during the growth period cannot be lower than 10℃, and the mature one should not be lower than 5℃. If the temperature is too low, it will cause frostbite and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: When the temperature is too low, you can take some appropriate warming measures. Be careful not to place it directly where the air conditioner is blowing or next to the heater.
