What to do if the leaves of the iron tree turn yellow

1. Supplementary lighting

Reason: It is a relatively light-loving plant, especially in the early stages of growth. If there is insufficient light, the new leaves will easily turn yellow and dry, and the growth rate will also slow down.

Solution: Move it to a place with good light. It is best to maintain it in full light in the early growth stage, with at least six hours of light per day. If the leaves have hardened, they can be maintained in half-day conditions.

2. Watering in moderation

Reason: The most common reason for its leaves turning yellow is over-watering. Although it likes moisture, once water accumulates, it can easily lead to root rot and the leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: Move the potted plants to a well-ventilated place in time to allow the water to evaporate as quickly as possible. If the situation is more serious, remove the plant from the pot and dry it in the sun. Then replant it after the soil has dried. In the later stage, water when the soil is dry and water when the soil is wet. Control watering during the low temperatures in autumn and winter.

3. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

Reason: It doesn’t need much fertilizer to grow, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need fertilizer. If no fertilizer is applied for a long time, the young leaves and stems will easily turn yellow, and eventually the whole plant will turn yellow, affecting its appearance and may even die.

Solution: If the above situation is easy to solve, just add appropriate fertilizer. But be careful not to use too much or high-concentration fertilizer at one time, otherwise it will burn the roots. Just apply thin fertilizer frequently.
