What to do if the leaves of the loose-tailed bamboo turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of the loose-tailed bamboo turn yellow

1. Acidification of watering

Reason: Lobelia is not suitable for growing in an alkaline environment. If the soil becomes too alkaline, the leaves will easily turn yellow.

Solution: If you want to improve the soil quality, you can use leaf mold, or you can acidify it before watering. Ferrous sulfate is generally used for acidification, and white vinegar can also be used, but it must not contain salt, otherwise it will affect the growth of the plant.

2. Appropriate fertilization

Reason: Due to lack of nutrients, the loose-tail bamboo grows poorly and its leaves are prone to yellowing.

Solution: Fertilize the loose-tailed bamboo in time. Fertilizer should be applied once every 1-2 weeks. Liquid fertilizer or compound fertilizer should be used, which will help plant growth. In summer, apply some nitrogen fertilizer to make it grow more vigorously. Apply some organic flower fertilizer in winter to improve the plant's resistance to frost.

3. Improve ventilation

Reason: If the air is not flowing smoothly, it will easily lead to low oxygen content, affecting the breathing of the leaves and causing them to turn yellow.

Solution: Place the scattered bamboo in a well-ventilated environment. It can be placed in a room with north-south ventilation, or on a balcony with windows open for ventilation. If the temperature is too low, ventilation may cause it to freeze, and it needs to be ventilated when exposed to sunlight in the afternoon.

4. Increase the temperature

Reason: Lobelia sphaerocephala grows best in a warm environment. If the temperature drops below 20°C, the leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: Place the scattered bamboo in a warmer place indoors. If the indoor temperature is not high enough, you can cover the upper part of the plant with a plastic bag to keep it warm.
