It can also be done after the beginning of autumn.

How to transplant chestnut trees in winter

1. Soil

The soil used for planting must be carefully selected, and the drainage performance of the cultivation soil must be good. It is recommended to use sandy soil for planting, which is not tolerant to waterlogging. If the soil drainage is poor, it will be very unfavorable for the growth of seedlings.

2. Seedling selection

The selected seedlings will also affect the survival of the plants. If the seedlings are very weak, their survival rate will be very low. The seedlings selected for transplanting must be sturdy and free of diseases and pests.

3. Transplanting

Remove the original seedlings from the pots, fill the new pots with soil, water to keep the substrate moist, then plant the chestnut tree in the new potting soil, compact the surrounding soil, water thoroughly once, and maintain it in a semi-shaded environment.

Precautions for transplanting chestnut trees

Before transplanting chestnuts, it is best to soak the seedlings in rooting water for about 10 minutes to increase the rooting speed of the chestnuts. When transplanting, be careful not to apply fertilizer, otherwise it will cause the chestnut roots to burn.

When caring for chestnuts, they need to be placed in a ventilated and sunny place to provide the plants with at least 5 hours of scattered light every day to promote the growth of chestnuts. When the light is relatively strong, the chestnuts need to be moved to a semi-shaded environment to prevent the plants from being burned by strong light.
