Pests and diseases of the star-shaped beauty and their control methods

Pseudophyllostachys chinensis leaf spot

symptom

Leaf spot is a fungal disease that can occur throughout the year, and is more serious in the warm and humid season from May to October. When the disease occurs, yellow-brown spots appear on the leaves, which gradually expand and cause the entire plant to wilt.

When the star beauty becomes sick, very small spots will appear on the leaves and will spread later. Observe carefully during maintenance.

Prevention and treatment methods

Clean up dead branches and leaves in time, remove diseased leaves in time, strengthen maintenance, and pay attention to timely ventilation in humid environments.

In the early stage of the disease, spray with 800-1000 times diluted 70% thiophanate-methyl. During the disease period, spray alternately with 800-1000 times diluted 50% carbendazim or 75% thiophanate-methyl. Spray 3-4 times after 7 days.

Rust of the star belle

symptom

Rust disease mainly harms the stems and leaves of the star beauty, causing rust-colored spots to appear, but in the early stages it often appears at the base of the stem and is difficult to detect. Increased rainfall after April and May may induce rust.

Prevention and treatment methods

Remove diseased plants and remove diseased leaves promptly. When repotting in spring every year, screen and remove dead and diseased leaves.

Before the disease occurs, spray regularly with 500-700 times diluted 80% Mancozeb; during the disease period, spray with 800-1000 times diluted 15% Triadimefon or 1200-1500 times diluted 25%, spray 3-4 times after 7-10 days.
