Disease and Pest Control of Rhododendron flamingo

Disease and Pest Control of Rhododendron flamingo

1. Pest Red Spider

Introduction to pests and diseases: The female adult of this pest is about 0.3 mm in length, dark red in color, a bit oval in shape, with a raised back and 4 pairs of dark red protuberances. The adult male body is wedge-shaped, flat, and bright red. Multiple generations can occur every year. The adults begin to hibernate inside the roots of the plant, mainly causing damage on the back of the leaves, a little close to the main vein of the petiole. They reproduce faster during the period of high temperature and little rain from June to July every year, and in times of drought, the number of them occurring at this time is also relatively large. When the damage is serious, the damaged leaves will become withered and then fall off.

Prevention and control methods: Generally, we can use manual prevention and control. After April, we should check frequently. If red spider mites are found on individual leaves, they should be removed in time and burned. Or you can also spray chemicals, both are possible.

2. Pests: Web bugs

Pest and disease introduction: This pest is also called stink bug. It is the main pest of the flaming azalea. It gathers together as adults or nymphs and parasitizes on the back of the leaves of the plant, sucking its sap and causing damage, resulting in the appearance of more pale spots on the leaves. At the same time, you can see a lot of dark brown insect feces and peeling shells on the back of the leaves. This will seriously affect its growth, cause its leaves to fall early and affect its flowering.

Prevention and control methods: Generally, when winter just begins, remove the fallen leaves and weeds near the flowers and trees, bury or burn them, and kill some overwintering adult insects. Generally, chemical agents can be used for prevention and control. In addition, you should choose to place it in a cooler place to reduce the appearance of insects.
