Disease and Pest Control of Polygonatum yunnanensis

Disease and Pest Control of Polygonatum yunnanensis

Disease control

This plant can basically get sick in the first three seasons (except winter), so it needs to be carefully cared for. The main disease they suffer from is called leaf spot, which can damage both leaves and branches. But the main damage is to the leaves. The symptoms they present are mainly of two types.

One of them is that brown spots appear at the beginning of the disease, but they will gradually expand and then turn black. In severe cases, it will cause premature leaf fall and even the death of the entire branch. Another situation is the appearance of dark spots in the shape of spirals on the leaves, and even the growth of black enzyme-like substances. In severe cases, it can also cause the leaves to fall off early and the plants to grow poorly.

You can choose to deep till the soil and remove dead branches before planting. Once this disease occurs, prevention and control must be carried out immediately. You can spray a certain dose of Bordeaux mixture once every 7 days for three consecutive times.

Pest Control

This insect is quite harmful. It can harm plants from seed germination to rhizome growth, and its destructive power is very strong. If the plant has died, they will immediately move to other plants. So if no measures are taken, they will quickly "kill" a group of plants. In addition to causing damage to the plants themselves, the wounds left behind can easily cause secondary damage to the plants, that is, cause disease. Therefore, when it occurs, timely prevention and treatment must be carried out.

Before planting this plant, you should turn the soil over frequently, which can effectively control the number of surviving larvae. This insect is an underground pest, so it has strict requirements on fertilizer. During the planting process, try not to use organic fertilizers and use more chemical fertilizers.
