Gardenia cultivation methods and precautions

Gardenia cultivation methods and precautions

1. Flower soil

Gardenia prefers slightly acidic soil with good air permeability, high nutrient content and a pH between 5-6. When cultivating, you can mix peat soil and leaf mold evenly in a 1:1 ratio as its flower soil. When cultivating, if you find that the pH of the flower soil is too high, you can add a few drops of vinegar to the water when watering and pour it into the soil.

2. Lighting

It needs sufficient light to grow. If there is not enough light, it may grow too tall. Normally you can give it full sun. But at noon in summer, proper shading is needed. Because the sunlight is very strong at this time, it is easy to burn the plants.

3. Watering

It has relatively high requirements for watering. You can't not water it for a long time, otherwise it will lack water; you can't water it too much, otherwise its roots will rot. Therefore, watering should be carried out according to the condition of the flower soil. If the soil is not dry yet, you don’t need to water it yet. If the soil starts to feel dry, it's time to water it.

4. Fertilization

It likes fertilizer, so you cannot go without fertilizer for a long time during maintenance, especially during the growth period, otherwise it will lack nutrients and affect its normal growth. Generally, it is sufficient to apply fertilizer once every half a month. When applying fertilizer, be careful to apply thin fertilizers frequently, and do not apply concentrated fertilizers, otherwise it will burn its roots.

5. Notes

In summer, it is best to keep it in a ventilated place, which can reduce the chance of it getting diseases and insects.
