What to do if your succulent first love turns black

What to do if your succulent first love turns black

Reasons for blackening

The main reason is that the soil is too moist and cannot breathe, which creates a good environment for the growth of some fungi, which invade the roots, blacken the roots, and even cause insect pests.

Treatment

If not handled properly, the initial small area may turn into complete root rot.

1. When you discover it, first cut off the water and take the plant out of the pot;

2. Cut off all the rotten parts and all the affected leaves. Don't feel sorry for the plants at this time, and cut the affected parts as large as possible;

3. After cutting, apply disinfectant or other agents on the cut to disinfect and sterilize, and then place it in a sunny place to dry naturally;

4. Replace all the original soil with new soil, and disinfect the flower pots. After that, it is best to expose them to the sun for a few days. Here I would like to remind my friends: the soil must be replaced with new one, don’t take chances, as this will harm the succulents.

5. Apply some quick rooting powder on the cut and then place it on the soil.

6. You can water it normally after a week.

The above is the treatment method after blackening. Be sure to control the amount of water during daily watering, and try not to let the leaves get wet when watering.
