Cultivation methods and precautions of banyan

The Indian fig is also known as the rubber tree. Although the ones planted at home are relatively miniature Indian figs, it can actually grow to several meters high. How to grow banyan tree

1. Flower Pots

If the Indian banyan tree is relatively large, you need to choose a larger flower pot with a diameter of at least 20 cm. If the plant is smaller, you need to use a smaller flower pot, either a ceramic pot or a clay pot.

2. Soil

The Indian banyan tree has a wide adaptability to soil. Usually, it only needs soil with good drainage and air permeability. If it is medium soil, some particles must be added, such as larger sand, or some vermiculite and perlite, which will be more conducive to the air permeability and drainage of its roots.

3. Watering

The Indian banyan tree likes moisture but cannot tolerate waterlogging. Although it needs to be watered when the soil in the pot is dry, water should not accumulate. Just keep the soil slightly moist. If water accumulates, stop watering in time and place it in a place where there is wind to keep it ventilated.

4. Lighting

Ficus microcarpa prefers an environment with plenty of sunlight, but cannot tolerate strong exposure to the sun. It is suitable for growing in a semi-shaded environment. If the light is very weak, or there is insufficient light for a long time, and there is a lack of flowing fresh air, it will also be in poor condition.

Precautions for maintenance of banyan

The Indian banyan tree is not very cold-resistant and will easily get frostbite if the temperature drops below zero, so it is more appropriate to keep the temperature above five degrees. It can be placed in a sheltered and sunny place in winter. Adding some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in autumn can also improve its cold resistance.

When growing Indian banyan in winter, you need to control watering and keep the soil in the pot dry. This will help it survive the winter. Too much water will be detrimental to its ability to survive the winter. Also, the water temperature should be consistent with the room temperature, otherwise it will affect the growth of the roots.
