What to do if the leaves of Epiphyllum become soft and droopy

What to do if the leaves of Epiphyllum become soft and droopy

1. Treating Pests

Cause: If the leaves of Epiphyllum become soft and drooping, it may be infected by pests, especially scale insects, which will cause the stem nodes to turn yellow and soften, and then fall off.

Measures: Observe the condition of the entire plant and see if there are insects on the leaves. If found, the diseased leaves can be removed and destroyed in a centralized manner, and then sprayed with pesticides for treatment. After there is no insect pest influence, the leaves will recover naturally.

2. Replace the potting soil

Reason: The potting soil is the basis for the growth of Epiphyllum. If the potting soil is compacted and dry, the roots cannot absorb water from it, and it will be difficult to supply water to the plant. The leaves will naturally become soft and droop due to lack of water.

Measures: If you find that the soil in the pot is dry and compacted, you can add water appropriately to loosen the soil, which can make the soil loose and fine. If the situation is very serious, you can directly prepare new soil and replace it, which can also provide new nutrients for the plants.

3. Control water and fertilizer

Reason: Epiphyllum needs a certain amount of water and nutrients to grow, but if these two aspects are not applied reasonably, the root system will also have problems, affecting the delivery of water and fertilizer.

Measures: Apply water and fertilizer reasonably. If applied improperly, timely adjustments are required.
