How to landscape with air plants

Suspension version

The easiest way to play with air plants is to hang them up directly. You can use a silk thread, iron wire, or aluminum wire. This method works well in humid areas, as the air plants blend in with the air.

Inverted version

In foreign countries, some people use inverted flower pots to grow air plants. A simple method can be chosen at home: use a drilled eggshell to hang it, and put its roots into the holes of the eggshell to make sure it does not fall off. There is no need to fix it specially. Most plants will not grow well if they are hung upside down, but there is no need to worry about the air orchid, as it often hangs upside down in its native habitat. Moreover, hanging the plant upside down like this will allow the water used for watering (spraying) to flow away quickly and will not accumulate in the center of the leaves and cause rot.

Isn’t this the sunny doll of the plant world?

Shell version

Shells are also a classic container for air plants. There is a species of air ammonite called "Little Butterfly" whose leaves are curved like tentacles. You can stuff it into a snail shell and it will immediately turn into an ancient "ammonite" with bared fangs and claws.

Sea urchin shell version

Although air plants do not need to be grown in pots, many people still feel that potted plants look more familiar, so you might as well put some effort into the pots. For example, the spines of sea urchin shells will fall off after the sea urchin dies, and the remaining sea urchin shells are natural handicrafts. When eating seafood, ask the boss for two. There is a naturally formed hole on the shell, which is just the right size to put an empty shell in.

Tree stump version

As an epiphytic plant, the most original landscaping method is to let it grow on a "tree". If you have the conditions at home, you can tie it to the tree trunk in the yard. If there is no tree, find a nice piece of dead wood, stick it on it with hot melt glue, or gently stuff it into the gap between the wood.

If the weather is warm, air plants will grow many aerial roots that cling tightly to dead wood. It doesn’t matter if no roots grow. Roots are not the standard for plant health. Healthy leaves are enough.
