Pitaya seedling cuttings rapid rooting method cuttings propagation and seedling raising method

There are several methods for breeding pitaya seedlings. Among them, cutting seedlings are popular because of their fast speed, easy collection of cuttings, little change in traits, and convenient management. Although cutting seedlings are simple and convenient, we still cannot be careless. We need to pay attention to the selection of substrate, cutting length, and post-cutting management.

1. Matrix selection

Dragon fruit is a fleshy stem. If the selected substrate is not suitable, it will easily cause the cuttings to rot. You can mix sand, soil, organic fertilizer and bagasse to make nutrient soil, which can provide the necessary nutrients for the cuttings, so that the survival rate is higher and the roots grow faster.

2. Cutting length

The length of pitaya cuttings will affect the rooting rate of the cuttings. The length of the cuttings is between 10-30 cm. The longer the cuttings, the more nutrients they store and the faster they will take root after cuttings. In order to improve the seedling rate and quality of pitaya cuttings, it is recommended that the cutting length be 20-30 cm.

3. Base treatment

After cutting off the strong branches of pitaya, you can cut the base into a wedge shape, soak it in carbendazim wettable powder for 10 minutes, take it out and place it in a ventilated place to dry for later use. If conditions permit, you can apply rooting powder on the cut to promote rooting.

4. Management after cutting

After pitaya is grafted, the surface of the substrate should be kept moist and dry. No watering is needed to avoid too much humidity in the substrate. Water it after 10 days. The cuttings will take root in about 10-15 days.
