Breeding methods and precautions of Jilihong

Breeding methods and precautions of Jilihong

Jilihong is a variety of Ruyi Queen, an ornamental foliage plant of the genus Araceae in the family Araceae. Its leaves are heart-shaped and have very bright and beautiful colors. It is a new type of New Year flower that has emerged in recent years. So what are the breeding methods and precautions for Geely Red? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Soil selection

Geely red likes to grow in loose, fertile, well-drained sandy soil rich in organic matter. For home potted plants , you can usually prepare your own leaf mold, garden soil, sandy river soil, etc. and mix them together, then use them after disinfection. Be careful not to use soil that is too sticky.

2. Temperature requirements

Geely Red grows best at temperatures between 16-26°C. Usually the climate temperature in spring and autumn can meet the temperature requirements, which is its peak growth season. In summer, you should pay attention to cooling down and provide more ventilation. In winter, it should be moved indoors to keep warm and avoid frostbite.

3. Lighting management

Geely red likes light and can tolerate partial shade, but avoids strong sunlight exposure. It should be properly shaded from May to September, or placed in a semi-shaded place such as under a big tree. Provide adequate light in winter.

4. Watering method

When watering, you can follow the principle of "water when dry and water when wet". Water when the soil surface is slightly dry and slightly whitish, and stop watering until the water seeps out from the bottom of the soil. The demand for water is the greatest in summer, and watering is generally done 2 to 3 times a week. In other seasons, watering can be done according to the dryness and wetness of the soil, but excessive watering should be avoided to cause waterlogging in the pot soil.

5. Reasonable fertilization

The amount of fertilizer required by Geely Red during its growth period is high, and fertilizer should be applied once every half month. When applying fertilizer, the combination of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be mastered to make the plant grow healthily and with bright colors. Fertilization should be stopped in winter.

6. Pruning tips

Regular pruning of the red sedge can promote its healthy growth and increase yield. Prune during the dormant period (winter), cut off dead branches, diseased branches and weak branches, and keep the tree shape neat. During the growth period, you can pinch and thin the flowers appropriately to control tree vigor and promote flower bud differentiation.

7. Repotting and changing crops

During the growth period of potted Lucky Red, the pot should be repotted once every spring. If planted in the ground, it needs to be replanted once every 3-4 years.

In general, Jilihong is a common foliage plant, loved by many people for its bright leaf color. Its cultivation method is not difficult. If you pay attention to the above tips, you can also grow good-looking Geely Red plants.
