The development of preserved flowers in Japan

From 2012 to date, "everlasting flowers" have been very popular in the Japanese market, with a demand of at least 100 million flowers per year, and they are very expensive. A floral work made of two everlasting roses, a small amount of grass flowers and a silk bag is sold for more than RMB 280 per piece in the Japanese market.

Before 2008, Japanese flower companies mostly imported raw materials for preserved flowers from Colombia and other countries. Some even established raw material supply bases in Vietnam. However, the fresh cut roses produced in Vietnam have fewer petals, poor flower shapes, and no advantage in producing single-headed roses. Colombia and other countries are restricted by objective factors such as transportation. Therefore, Japanese merchants gradually turned their attention to importing deep-processed rose cut flower products from Yunnan, China, and found an ideal raw material supplier. After two or three years of running-in, Chinese and Japanese companies joined forces to produce preserved flower products directly in Yunnan, China, a fresh cut rose production base.

The overseas market of preserved flowers

At the "2007 China Kunming International Flower Exhibition", a series of deep-processed flower products such as eternal roses and carnations were exhibited, which were sought after by domestic and foreign merchants and thousands of flower lovers. There was an endless stream of people going to negotiate and visit.

Black Magic, the most widely planted old variety of rose in Yunnan, has seen its per-acre output value of each rose (raw material) increase sixfold after it was changed from being used only as fresh cut flowers. In view of this, Yunnan has specially introduced more than 10 multi-headed rose and single-headed rose varieties from Meilland of France and Moerheim Rose & Trading of the Netherlands, and set aside a 100-acre base for the production of everlasting rose products.

Improvement of Chinese preserved flower technology

Although preserved flowers are currently one of the best-selling flower products in the world, due to technical limitations, the production of preserved flowers in China is mostly "small workshop" production. Its production technology is still in the exploratory stage and the product supply is extremely small.

In July 2008, the Flower Co., Ltd. officially began to use the "eternal flower" production technology and equipment introduced from Japan. So far, the company has produced up to 1.5 million "eternal roses", and the annual output will exceed 2 million. At this point, He's Company took the lead in breaking the original pattern of Yunnan flower enterprises in China providing deep-processed flower raw materials to foreign customers, and also became the vanguard of Yunnan's flower deep-processing industry.

Building a factory in Qujing City, Yunnan Province to produce preserved flowers has broken China's domestic production technology barriers, filled the gap in Yunnan's preserved roses, enriched Yunnan's flower deep-processing products, and will also give birth to the development of the flower deep-processing industry.

From 2013 to 2014, Internet e-commerce flower sales also began to transform into the sales of preserved flowers, mainly sold to consumers in the form of preserved flower gift boxes. The online sales of preserved flowers have achieved good results. Many online sellers have started the e-commerce journey of preserved flowers and earned their first pot of gold.
