Tiger Pilan cultivation methods and precautions

Family farming methods

Flower pot selection

Requirements for flower pot quality: Clay pots, plastic pots, porcelain pots, and ceramic pots can be used for cultivation.

Pot size: Tiger Piranha can be planted in clumps in pots with a diameter of 16 to 30 cm. The root system of Sansevieria is not deep, but using a tall flowerpot will help to make the plant look more beautiful.

Potting soil preparation

Tiger Piranha prefers loose, moderately fertile, well-drained sandy soil, but it is not very demanding on the soil, as long as it has good drainage. Households can use the following formula: the ratio of garden soil: leaf mold: sand is 5:2:3, and the ratio of peat soil: leaf mold: sand: perlite is 4:2:2:2.

Environmental requirements

Sunlight: Tiger Piranha likes light, so it is best to place the plant where it can be directly exposed to sunlight. If conditions do not permit, you can also place it closer to the sun. Placing the plant in the shade for a long time will cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Temperature: Sansevieria has relatively high requirements for growth temperature. The most suitable growth temperature is 20~30℃. It cannot be lower than 10℃ in winter. Pay attention to keeping warm in northern areas.

Watering method

Tiger Piranha prefers moist soil and is relatively drought-resistant.

Spring is the growing season for new leaves. New buds will grow at the root neck. The water requirement is slightly higher, so you can keep the soil in the pot moist. After the leaves grow out, it is better to keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, that is, water it after the topsoil is completely dry.

When the temperature is low in winter, keep the soil in the pot dry but not too dry. When watering in winter, it is better to water close to the edge of the pot to avoid water getting into the leaf clusters and causing rot.

Fertilization method

Tiger Piranha does not require much fertilizer. After new leaves grow in spring, you need to apply decomposed liquid fertilizer, or use 1000 times diluted general fertilizer 1 to 2 times, and fertilize once every 10 to 15 days.

When applying fertilizer, please use a fine-mouthed spray bottle to sprinkle fertilizer along the mouth of the pot. Do not pour liquid fertilizer into the leaf clusters, otherwise it will cause leaf rot and affect growth.

Repotting and pruning

Compared with other household green plants, Sansevieria grows faster. When it fills the pot, the old leaves or overgrown branches and leaves can be cut off to ensure sufficient sunlight and growth space. In addition, repot the plant every two years, replace half of the soil with new soil, and stop pruning old leaves.

Precautions

Don't see the light suddenly

In many families, the Sansevieria may be placed in the living room, desk, etc., where there is less sunlight. In this case, it is not advisable to move the plant to the sun suddenly. It should be done gradually, first moving it to a place with better light, allowing it to adapt and then exposing it to the sunlight to avoid burning the leaves.

Watering should be done in moderation

It is better to keep the water dry than wet. Usually use clean water to wipe the dust off the leaves to keep them clean and shiny. Depending on the season, new plants need to be watered more during the Spring Festival to keep the soil moist; keep the soil moist in high temperature seasons; and control water appropriately in autumn and winter to increase cold resistance.
