How to propagate torch flower

How to propagate torch flower

Torch flower seed propagation

1. The suitable temperature for sowing and germination is 18~24℃, and seedlings will emerge in 3-4 weeks. Seed propagation can be carried out in three seasons except winter. It is usually sown in spring from March to April and in autumn from September to October. It can also be sown immediately after harvesting. The seedlings are raised in the greenhouse in January of the following year, and can be planted in the field in April and bloom in autumn.

2. In spring and autumn, the shoots can be cut with roots and planted separately. Appropriate amount of organic fertilizer should be applied during cultivation. If sown at natural temperatures, it will bloom the following year. Before sowing, turn the entire pot deeply, level the soil, then sow in rows, cover with soil, and water enough. Cover with plastic film and move to the balcony to maintain the humidity in the pot. It will sprout in about 2 weeks.

3. For seed propagation, you can also use vermiculite to sow the seeds, and then use plastic film to place the watered substrate in a sunny place sheltered from the wind. The seedlings are still small in the first year, but in the second year the number of flowers will increase and produce flower stalks, with 3-5 or even more flowers.

Torch flower division propagation

After three years of potted torch flower, one plant can produce more than a dozen buds. Too much production will cause crowding and poor ventilation, so the plants need to be divided in time.

Propagation by division is usually carried out in autumn. After the flowering period, the entire mother plant can be dug up, and 2-3 buds can be cut into one plant. After planting, water it. The division propagation method is simple, easy to survive, does not affect flowering but the reproduction amount is small.
