What are the common varieties of azalea

Spring Azalea

The spring azalea is also called the hairy azalea and the large-leafed azalea. It is mainly distributed in the Malay Peninsula and the mountains of southern Asia. Because it blooms before sprouting, and blooms in mid-to-late April or early May, it is called spring azalea. The flowers are very gorgeous when they bloom, with three flowers in total. The flowers are large, with a diameter of about 8 cm. The corolla is wide and trumpet-shaped, and the colors include bright red, dark red, purple-red, pure white, pink, etc.

Summer Azalea

It grows branches and leaves in spring and blooms in May and June. Summer azalea has a short plant shape, a full crown and is resistant to pruning. The leaves are 3 to 4 cm long and the flowers are single, double and nested, with different shapes including round, smooth, soft, hard, wavy and wrinkled. Common colors are yellow, red, white and purple. It can be grown in pots or in the ground under shade conditions.

Eastern Azalea

The winter azalea was originally introduced from Japan. Its main characteristics are a short plant, thin and soft branches, and thin, tender green and shiny leaves. There are 1 to 3 flowers in bloom, sometimes 4 to 5, which can be described as "only branches and leaves are seen, no flowers". The flower colors are mostly red, purple, white, pink and white, light yellow, and white and green.

Western Azalea

The western azalea is one of the species that is very popular among people because of its colorful flowers. The plant of Rhododendron australis is short and grows slowly, with thick and strong branches. The branches grown in the same year are green or red. The red branches bear red flowers, and the green branches bear white, pink, or peach-colored flowers. The flowering period can be advanced to New Year's Day and the Spring Festival through flower control technology.

Alpine Rhododendron

Rhododendron is an alpine evergreen shrub or small tree of the Ericaceae family. The plant is 1 to 3 meters tall, with thick branches. The flowering period is from April to May. The flowers are mainly set in pairs and double petals, with a small number of single petals. The flowering period is about 1 month. Common flower colors include white, pink, light red, peach red, yellow, etc.
