When to plant soybeans? When will it be collected?

There are many varieties of soybeans , which can be divided into edible soybeans, oil soybeans, soybean meal and feed soybeans according to their uses. The soybean growth cycle varies depending on the variety and planting area, and generally takes 90-120 days from sowing to maturity. So when should soybeans be planted? When will it be collected?

When to plant soybeans? When will it be collected?

Soybean planting and harvesting times vary by region and climate conditions:

1. Spring sowing soybeans

It is usually sown in late April to early May and harvested around late September.

2. Summer soybeans

It is usually sown in mid-June and harvested in late September to early October.

3. Autumn sowing soybeans

It is usually sown in mid-to-late August and harvested in November.

4. Winter soybean planting

It is usually sown in November and harvested in March or April of the following year.

Soybean planting density

1. Variety characteristics

For varieties with tall plants, many branches, open plant shape and large leaves, a small planting density should be used; for varieties with short plants or tall plants but few branches and a compact plant shape, a larger density should be used.

2. Soil fertility

In land with flat, fertile soil and convenient irrigation and drainage, generally 12,000 to 13,000 soybean seedlings per mu can be maintained. For land with medium fertility, it is generally appropriate to maintain 13,000 to 18,000 seedlings per mu.

3. Climate conditions

In high-latitude and high-altitude areas, the temperature is low, the plant growth is small, and the density should be larger.

4. Variety type and planting season

Generally, summer soybeans have a longer growing period, tall plants, and should be planted sparsely; spring soybeans have a shorter growing period, and autumn soybeans have the shortest growing period, short plants, and should be planted appropriately densely.

5. Cultivation method

When mechanized cultivation management is adopted, the cultivation density is different from that of management with manual or animal power. Increasing the sowing density can significantly increase the bottom pod height and reduce branching, making it easier to harvest mechanically. When using the narrow row sowing method, the density can be slightly increased.

6. Seed quality

The sowing amount can be calculated flexibly and comprehensively based on the seed germination rate, purity, 100-grain weight, soil moisture conditions, land preparation quality and other factors affecting emergence (such as disease, insects, rodent damage, etc.).

7. Regional differences

The sowing density of summer soybeans in the Huanghuai Plain and the Yangtze River Basin is generally 15,000 to 30,000 plants per mu. The flat, fertile land with irrigation conditions can support 12,000 to 18,000 seedlings per mu. For land with medium or average fertility, it is appropriate to maintain 22,000 to 30,000 seedlings per mu.

In summary, the soybean harvest time in different regions and planting times is mainly concentrated in September and October. The Northeast region and Inner Mongolia mainly grow spring-sown soybeans once a year, while the Huanghuai and Haihe regions mainly grow summer-sown soybeans. Therefore, the planting and harvesting time of soybeans needs to be determined according to the specific geographical location and climatic conditions.
