How to sow Verbena

How to sow Verbena

Sowing time

Verbena is usually planted in late September.

Preparation before sowing

1. Disinfect the substrate to prevent bacterial infection. Commonly used disinfection methods include exposure to the sun, which involves exposing the soil directly to the sun, or frying the soil in a pot to directly kill pests and diseases.

2. Germination: Soak the seeds in warm water for three to ten hours until the seeds absorb water and swell.

sowing

Sow the petunias evenly in the seedling tray and cover with soil about 1 cm. After sowing, use a sprayer to wet the sowing medium. Later, when the soil in the pot is slightly dry, remember to continue watering. Do not water too hard to avoid washing the seeds away.

Post-sowing management

After sowing in the autumn, when encountering cold waves and low temperatures, you can wrap the flower pots with plastic film to keep warm and moisturize; after the seedlings emerge from the soil, remove the film in time and expose the seedlings to sunlight before 9:30 am every day or after 3:30 pm, otherwise the seedlings will grow very weakly; after most of the seeds have emerged, they need to be thinned out appropriately: pull out the diseased and unhealthy seedlings so that the remaining seedlings have a certain space between each other; when most of the seedlings have grown 3 or more leaves, they can be transplanted into pots.
