Cultivation methods and precautions of wine bottle orchid

Cultivation methods and precautions of wine bottle orchid

1. Soil

Bottle orchid is relatively drought-tolerant, but afraid of waterlogging, so the soil requires good drainage. In addition, there are requirements such as fertility and breathability. You also need to change the pot regularly. If it is planted in the same year, you may need to change to a larger pot when repotting. You also need to choose suitable soil. For example, you can mix garden soil and slag in a ratio of three to one.

2. Temperature

Bottle orchid likes warmth, specifically between 20 and 28 degrees, and it is best not to exceed 33 degrees. Its cold resistance is not very good and the temperature should not drop below ten degrees in winter. Otherwise, the plants may wither after being frozen.

3. Lighting

It prefers light. If the environment is too dark, it will lead to poor growth. However, too much light is not good either. So try to avoid midday light. Even in the summer when there is strong sunlight, shade is also required. The light also needs to be even, and it is best to rotate its position regularly.

4. Humidity

It prefers humidity, so an air humidity of 70 to 80 percent is most suitable for it. Too little humidity can cause leaves to turn yellow, or appear dull. However, you can water it less frequently because it is drought tolerant. It is better to keep the soil in the pot slightly dry at ordinary times, and avoid water accumulation.

5. Notes

When caring for the bottle orchid, you should pay attention to the fact that it does not require much fertilizer, especially concentrated fertilizer. Once concentrated fertilizer is used, it is easy to burn the roots and affect growth. Normally, only a small amount is needed during the growing season, and fertilizer should be stopped in winter.
