Rose cultivation methods and precautions

Rose cultivation methods and precautions

1. Sunlight

Rose is a light-loving flower and tree. It grows well in a sunny environment and has attractive flowers. No shade is needed during the growth period, the stronger the light, the better. We are not afraid of no sunlight, but we are afraid of insufficient sunlight.

2. Moisture

Roses like moisture and are afraid of humidity. From budding to flowering, you can water them more appropriately to ensure that the soil surface is moist but not waterlogged. Do not water too much after flowering. The soil should be moistened when dry. It can be rained appropriately on rainy days, but the water must be drained in time.

Also pay attention to the watering method. Do not water from the beginning during the flowering period, especially when the sunlight is strong. Do not let water accumulate on the leaves and the center of the flower to avoid burning the leaves and flowers.

3. Nutrients

Roses like fertilizer and are tolerant to barrenness. They can grow regardless of whether they are well fed or not. The usual fertilization methods are:

Fertilize 1 to 2 times in March, mainly with nitrogen-containing liquid fertilizer, to promote the growth of branches and leaves. Fertilize 2 to 3 times in April and May, mainly with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, to promote bud formation and flowering; apply compound fertilizer once after the flowers fade to promote plant recovery.

Try not to apply fertilizer at other times to avoid excessive fertilization affecting the flowering of the plant.

4. Pest control

Roses are beautiful but also weak and often susceptible to many diseases. Most of them are fungal diseases. When the disease occurs, spray Bordeaux mixture or methyl thiophanate solution in time. The effect will be better if you use the medicine at home. Pay attention to enhancing the disease resistance of roses and add phosphorus and potassium fertilizers when fertilizing.

5. Notes

Roses have a strong ability to sprout and grow luxuriantly, so they must be pruned in a timely manner. Prune the branches promptly after flowering to ensure that they receive adequate light and ventilation.
