How to grow bamboo cypress seeds

The process of raising bamboo cypress seeds

Seed Collection

There are two ways to propagate bamboo cypress, one is cuttings, and the other is seed seedling cultivation which we will talk about soon. The seeds of bamboo cypress are relatively large in weight, with one thousand seeds weighing 500g. The seeds also contain oil, which is very difficult to preserve. Generally, they should be sown immediately after harvesting. Otherwise, if you put the bamboo cypress seeds under strong light to dehydrate and dry them, the seeds will be useless within three days and will never germinate again.

sowing

The germination rate of bamboo cypress seeds is very high, with 90 or more seeds successfully germinating out of every 100. Generally, the seedling raising process takes place in a larger open space. If the quantity is small, it can also be propagated in pots. Prepare an empty flowerpot of medium size, put the harvested seeds aside for later use, first prepare the mixture of the flowerpot soil, then sprinkle the seeds on the surface, cover it with a layer of fine soil and water it.

But remember to wrap it with a thin layer of plastic sheeting until the seedlings grow taller than the film, then you can remove it.

Seedling removal and transplanting

When the plants grow into small seedlings, they need to be thinned out. Do not have too many, too dense or too thick. Keep the plants with the required growth space. After a while, they can be transplanted to the place where they will be planted in the future.
