The breeding methods and precautions of Caragana

How to cultivate Caragana

Temperature and light

Caragana is light-loving and cold-resistant and prefers a warm environment. You can place the Caragana in a sunny and well-ventilated place and give it plenty of sunlight. However, in the hot summer with strong sunlight, the Caragana should be shaded and placed in a semi-shaded place for maintenance. In winter, you can keep Caragana in a room with higher temperature, and try to place it in a place with bright light. In areas south of the Yellow River, it can also overwinter outdoors, and it is best to bury it in the soil with the pot.

Water and fertilizer management

In daily care of Caragana, watering should follow the principle of "don't water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do", keeping the soil in the pot moist can prolong the flowering period. It is better to apply fertilizer thinly and frequently, but appropriate changes should be made according to the growth conditions of the Caragana. For example, fertilizer can be applied during the winter dormancy period, liquid fertilizer can be applied during the spring flowering period, and top dressing can be applied after the flowers bloom.

Soil and Repotting

Caragana is generally repotted every 2 to 3 years, in spring. When repotting, you can remove the old soil and trim the roots, then replant. Afterwards, place the Caragana in a semi-shaded location to slow down the rooting process, and resume normal management after it has recovered.

The best soil for Caragana is deep, fertile and moist sandy loam.

Precautions for breeding of Caragana

Reproduction method

Caragana can be propagated by sowing, cuttings, division and layering.

prune

Caragana needs to be pruned frequently during its growth process. After the leaves fall in winter, all diseased, dead and rotten branches can be cut off. When the plant grows again in spring, prune the branches to get more branches. When the Caragana is growing vigorously, cut off the overgrown branches to maintain the beautiful shape of the plant.
