Phalaenopsis cutting method

After the Phalaenopsis flower period is over, cuttings can be carried out. Cut the tender buds growing on the pedicels for cuttings. Before cuttings, the soil needs to be prepared and disinfected. The branches also need to be disinfected and rooting powder applied to the wounds. After the cuttings are completed, management needs to be strengthened and wait patiently for the branches to take root.

1. Cutting time

The time for Phalaenopsis cuttings is after the flowering period is over, because after the Phalaenopsis flowers wither, new shoots will grow on its pedicels. When the buds grow to 5 cm, they can be cut off for cuttings.

2. Cutting steps

Prepare potting soil: Before Phalaenopsis orchid cuttings, you must prepare suitable potting soil. The soil must have sufficient nutrients and good air permeability. It is recommended to use a mixture of leaf mold, wood ash, river sand and a small amount of organic fertilizer. After the soil is prepared, spray it with carbendazim solution for disinfection and sterilization.

Branch processing: Cut off the well-growing buds from the healthy Phalaenopsis plants, then disinfect the wounds to prevent infection by bacteria, apply rooting powder to the wounds, place them in a well-ventilated environment, and insert them into the prepared soil after the wounds dry.

3. Maintenance

After the Phalaenopsis is grafted, water it thoroughly to keep the soil moist. Then place it in a semi-shaded, well-ventilated environment with the ambient temperature controlled at around 20 degrees and wait for the branches to take root.
